With David’s family flying in from New Zealand and Jo’s friend conducting the ceremony, surrounded by their closest friends and family it was always going to be a little emotional and beautiful.

Then we all headed off to the Blue Boar in Maldon, wow what a fun, quirky, eccentric venue, I loved it! I know Jo and David did too, it’s why they chose it as their reception venue.

My good friend and fellow Photographer Hayley Foster came along for the day and we had great fun capturing all the details and moments.

So everyone say Hello and Congratulations to Jo and David and keep your eyes out for the coolest wedding car and yep I got to ride in it too .

Their friends and family turn out as the paparazzi and their chosen photographer feels a doubling of their wedding day nerves.

Well at least that’s what happened for me when Matt and Zoe asked me to capture their super relaxed and fun Wedding. I was so excited and flattered that they asked me, but also incredibly nervous.

I always feel a surge of nerves at any wedding. There is a lot of pressure involved in ensuring you capture someone’s day, it only happens once, no room for error. For me, the day I don’t feel those nerves is the day I should put my camera down. Those nerves keep me focused, on my toes and working my hardest to capture each and every wedding. Each of us work differently and being able to capture another photographers day, with the idea that they will be watching your every move is daunting. In reality they are completely focused on their wedding and each other (just as they should be) and really not paying any attention to what you are doing, but the thought was  always there.

I’ve known Matt for a couple of years now and he’s really relaxed and great fun to be around as I am sure you will see from these photos, trying to capture one simple shot can result in a whole series of fun out takes which I have included here as each one makes me smile and sums Matt up perfectly. He’s never still!

So the brief for the wedding was to just capture some relaxed and fun images nothing too formal, not loads of couple shots, it was going to be a really relaxed small and intimate wedding, with friends and family from all over the world attending, and so that’s exactly what we did.

For the ceremony we headed to Saffron Walden Registry office, which at weekends is the council chamber, very impressive. Then we headed to their reception at a gorgeous thatched Pub called the Red Cow at Chrishall, and what a gorgeous, warm and welcoming venue it was too.

We dodged the rain and managed all the bits they wanted to do outside, outside. Keep your eyes open for the decorated car, and the gorgeous coat that has earned Zoe the nickname of The Duchess.

Their boys Felix and Morris joined us at the Red Cow, both having just woken from a snooze in the car and initially a little grumpy and who can blame them I am not so keen on being woken up myself. Matt does a great impression of grumpy but it’s not something I think comes naturally to him.

So everybody say hello and congratulations to Matt and Zoe, and enjoy the fun that oozes out of their day.

So the weather wasn’t it’s kindest but that didn’t stop us from having a blast, Liz is so fun to be around, it doesn’t take much to make Liz, lose it with laughter and her bridesmaids were brilliant at calming her nerves and bringing out those all consuming giggles.

James was cool calm and collected, and rather dashing in his wedding suit, and it’s easy to see that these two are meant to be together.

It truly makes my day when wedding clients come back and want to work with me again, and when it’s for a special occasion such as a significant birthday of one of the family, it’s even better.

So we met on a gray wet and cold day in February and braved the elements to capture some fun and relaxed family portraits.

To the Russell family, thank you, it was so fabulous to catch up with you all again and here all your exciting news, I look forward to updates xxxx

Although we they didn’t want any photographs of the ceremony I can tell you I have never heard so few people sing so beautifully and loudly at any wedding, it was breath taking! OK so they had some professional singers amongst their quest list, but even so, breath taking!

We met at the Botanical Gardens in Cambridge, well worth a visit if you have never been, to have a good catch up about all the details of their day and I can tell you there are lots of them and it’s going to be a packed day.

What started as a gray day turned into a beautiful blue sky one whilst we were shooting, spring blooms and sunshine what more could a girl ask for?
